Being a great listener is important in a relationship.
Improving listening skills takes time and energy.

Know when it’s important to be a good listener.

It’s okay to ask for a moment before listening.

Set expectations and ask your partner what they need.

Avoid getting defensive when receiving feedback.

Take a break if you’re getting upset and re-engage later.

Offer support and avoid offering advice or different perspectives.

Listening takes effort and is worth doing for the health of your relationship.

Remember also that being a good listener encourages others to listen to you as well.
